GM GEN III & IV LS and Vortec engines with 3-bolt camshafts and 24x reluctor wheels only.
The 3-bolt cam sprocket in this timing set will not work with the OEM camshaft in some Gen IV engines which come with single bolt camshafts. It is generally preferable to upgrade to a 3-bolt camshaft as single-bolt camshafts are more prone to failure.
The 1X cam sprocket is designed to work on engines with a 24X reluctor wheel, which generally includes all Gen III V8 engines (LS1, LS6, LQ4, LQ9) and early Gen IV V8 engines (2005 LS2 Corvette, 2005-2006 LS2 GTO, 2005-2006 LS2 SSR). The GM 24X reluctor wheel part numbers are 12551520 or 12559353.
Gen III LS engines came with a timing sensor in the back of the block and a reluctor machined to the back of the camshaft itself. If upgrading to an aftermarket camshaft without a reluctor, you will have to upgrade to the LS2 timing cover, part # 12600325, which has the timing sensor built-in and use an extension to connect the sensor harness to the timing cover.
