Improved Racing's Flow Series Motorsport (FSM) oil thermostat is a universal solution that can be used with any oil cooler on any vehicle or industrial application flowing up to 20 GPM (75.71 LPM).

The device's unique, patented internal design (US patent 9,772,632) ensures a low pressure drop by placing the bypass valve mechanism completely out of the primary oil flow. This arrangement also allows for a compact design.

High performance vehicles require large oil coolers to ensure that the oil does not overheat during strenuous use. These coolers also introduce the danger of over-cooling the oil and delaying engine warm-up, resulting in horsepower loss, excessive engine wear and reduced gas mileage. Oil thermostats perform the critical function of bypassing the oil cooler until the oil has reached its minimum operating temperature.

This thermostat features female -10AN O-ring boss threads and is available with optional fittings in 3/8" or 1/2'' hose barb or AN fittings in -06AN, -08AN, -10AN, or -12AN. The included brackets allow for multiple mounting options.

Have a supercharged 2013 Miata NC automatic with CSF radiator and Tru Cool transmission cooler. Transmission wouldn't heat up over 105 the other day when temps were in the low 40's. Added this unit inline and did a little testing. 166 in town and 169-184 or say on the highway no matter how hard it was pushed with temps in the low 40's. Temps were low 30's yesterday morning and temps were 140 and climbing after a 10 minute drive to work. Was 80 at a little higher temps before the thermostat. Works great so far, can't wait to see how it does in the summer.

I own a Russian YAK55 single seat competition aerobatic aircraft and operate it in Australia where the usual operating temperature is somewhat higher than freezing Russia !
Needless to say I have struggled keeping the oil temperature in the "green" here. I also made the standard original Russian oil cooler work even harder when we retro fitted a more powerful version of the Venyendev MP14-PF engine. This engine is a 9 cylinder supercharged air cooled radial engine which develops 400+ HP at 3000 maximum rpm. It burns 150 litres - or over 40 Gals of Avgas per hour at full power and will hover like a helicopter in the vertical.

I finally got around to designing and having a new custom built oil cooler made that has around 70% better cooling ability.
The new oil cooler works a treat and in fact was now too good at keeping the oil cool. So I now had another problem of an oil temp that was too cold. After trying fixes like blocking off some of the intake area with race tape Etc. and getting results that I was still not happy with I started looking for a better solution... This brought me to the "Improved Racing" high flow oil thermostat product. This product looked like it was the best in the business so we ordered one to try out.
To my excitement this has completely solved my oil temp control problems - at last !!

It is working fantastic – holding the oil temp steady under quite difficult circumstances as the big radial engine does heat up and cool down fast as we go from full power settings on vertical up lines where there is little cooling air flow - to idle speed in down-lines where there is too much cooling for low power settings. The Improved Racing thermostat handles this with ease as for the first time in history I have a fantastic constant oil temperature which will improve engine performance and reliability as well as faster warm up times. The YAK has 12 Litres ( 3.3 Gals ) of oil to heat up before takeoff.

I will also use one of these thermostats on the motorcycle engine powered race car I am building which will provide the correct oil temp during different power settings and ambient temperatures, again improving performance and reliability.
The build quality of these products is second to none and I highly recommend their products to anyone who cares for their equipment.
