Improved Racing's thermostatic oil cooler adapters make it easy to add an oil cooler to your C5 Corvette. The built-in thermostat automatically bypasses the cooler until safe operating temperatures are reached. No more worrying about over-cooling engine oil or long warm-up times!

The thermostat block features an M12 sensor port to retain use of the factory oil temperature sensor in the C5 Corvette. The factory sensor will plug right in; no need to extend the sensor harness.

This "bottom inlet" thermostatic oil cooler adapter will also clear the LSX and Dart LS Next engine blocks without modification.

The adapter features standard female -08AN O-ring boss ports that accept optional male adapter fittings for -08AN, -10AN or -12AN lines.

Installation Notes
  • We recommend using a straight hose end fitting for the OUT port and a 90-degree hose end fitting for the IN port. For additional clearance, use our low profile hose end fitting on the IN port (part number DO-090-08-08 (-8AN lines) or DO-090-10-08 (-10AN lines). Note only one O-ring boss adapter fitting is needed when using this low-profile hose end.
  • Note: This oil adapter is designed for O-ring boss fittings with a straight thread length of 0.500" or less. We recommend using our fittings in order to guarantee proper fitment and seal.

This is bar far the best oil cooler adapter design for the LS engine family. I have it installed on my C5 but I would recommend for any vehicle platform, just use an Autometer temp gauge or re-route the factory to here. This is the best location (oil out from block to cooler) to measure temp.

So my setup makes 850 rwhp and produces a lot of heat. I have an LSx 427 with an F1A Procharger and 2" Kooks primaries. It says in the notes here that it will not fit an LSx but it does. -8 AN will fit with no problems but I have -10 an lines (as you should) and there is a very minimal 5 minute clearance job needed on the block. The LSx block has a plugged port in the back for an external oil line. This port boss is very thick and you slightly radius the corner of the boss and take some off the "IN" fitting -10AN hose end b nut flat. I could have easily made a -12AN work but saw no need to use -12AN lines.

The temperatures and pressure are awesome. It heats the oil to operating temp quickly and stabilizes at 201*F and 45psi idle. On a hot 95* day and running hard, oil temp goes to 208*F. Remember this is oil out of the block temp. I have a 180*F on 175*F off temp switch to control the fan on my 19 Row Derale stack plate cooler. The switch is after the cooler and going to the "IN" port. This way the system does not oscillate and run the fan when the adapter thermostat is closed. It only runs the fan when there is actually flow going through the cooler and when it's hot enough (let the cooler do it's job and then help it with the fan if there isn't enough air flow). So I know when my fan is on, cooler out temp is 180*F and engine out temp is 208*F and 40 psi.

I am very please with how my setup is working and it is all made possible by this innovative products. Thank you for designing this part and I hope many more will be able to utilize its great design.
